Child Protection Specialist (NO-3), Fixed-Term, Kinshasa

About the role

The Child Protection Specialist will support UNICEF’s mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo by developing, implementing and evaluating child protection programmes that create a safe environment for children. Reporting to the Chief of Child Protection, the role combines technical guidance, programme management and partnership building to ensure compliance with international child rights standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, planning and budgeting of child protection projects.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation in line with UNICEF’s results‑based management approach.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to field teams and partners.
• Build and maintain networks with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge sharing and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or related fields.
• Minimum five years of experience in social development planning, child protection management or related areas.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and UN child protection frameworks.
