Coordinator, Ebola Emergency

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a Coordinator to lead its Ebola emergency response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will be based within the IFRC Country Cluster Delegation in Kinshasa and will support National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in managing the outbreak.

Key responsibilities

• Scale up a National Society‑led response focused on community engagement, surveillance, and outbreak control.
• Mobilise and supervise Red Cross volunteers for door‑to‑door awareness, misinformation counter‑measures, early care‑seeking promotion, and safe, dignified burials.
• Coordinate closely with government authorities, partner organisations, and IFRC regional teams to strengthen preparedness and surge capacity.
• Manage resources, emergency appeals, and logistical support for rapid containment activities.
• Monitor and report on the epidemiological situation, ensuring timely data sharing and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian emergency coordination, preferably in health crises.
• Familiarity with Ebola or similar infectious disease outbreaks.
• Ability to work in insecure and resource‑limited environments.
• Strong communication skills for community outreach and stakeholder engagement.
