External & Corporate Communication Specialist

About the role

The External & Corporate Communication Specialist will strengthen Vodacom DRC’s brand reputation and stakeholder engagement across both traditional and digital channels. You will craft consistent, impactful messaging that aligns with the company’s vision, social impact goals, and corporate values.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors and media outlets; coordinate interviews, press briefings and conferences.
• Draft, edit and distribute press releases, media advisories and official statements; monitor coverage and report on media sentiment.
• Develop executive speeches, op‑eds, talking points and Q&A documents for public appearances.
• Create compelling written and visual content for newsletters, blogs, social media, corporate videos and ESG initiatives.
• Support Vodacom’s online presence on LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube and the corporate website; monitor engagement and public sentiment.
• Assist with crisis communication planning and response to mitigate reputational risk.
• Provide communication support for events, conferences and sponsorship activations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in external or corporate communications, preferably in telecom, media or multinational environments.
• Excellent writing and editing skills in French and English; Lingala is a plus.
• Strong media network and proven ability to engage press.
• Political and cultural sensitivity with high ethical standards.

• Proficiency with communication tools and platforms such as social media, content‑management systems (CMS) and media‑monitoring tools.
