Global Mental Health Advisor – Technical Unit

About the role

The Global MHPSS Technical Unit Advisor provides technical oversight and programmatic guidance for mental health and psychosocial support activities worldwide, ensuring alignment with international standards and IMC’s approach.

Key responsibilities

• Support country teams in designing and implementing culturally appropriate MHPSS programs, including MH/PHC integration, case management, early childhood development, and peer support.
• Assist in proposal development, ensure compliance with IASC guidelines, and promote holistic, cross‑cutting approaches across health, nutrition, child protection and VAWG.
• Develop standardized monitoring and evaluation tools, produce field trip reports, and represent IMC at national and international forums.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, psychiatric nursing or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mental health, with at least 5 years leading MHPSS programs in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Strong organizational, supervisory and reporting skills; ability to work independently and travel frequently.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IASC MHPSS guidelines and global mental health standards.
• Experience in training, capacity building and mentorship of multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in developing monitoring, evaluation and learning tools for MHPSS programs.
