Officer, Infection Prevention and Control (Beni & Bunia)

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking an Officer for Infection Prevention and Control to support the emergency response in the Beni and Bunia areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will contribute to rapid containment of the Ebola outbreak by strengthening community engagement, surveillance and infection control activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support community‑based surveillance and case detection activities.
• Lead infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in health facilities and community settings.
• Work with Red Cross volunteers to deliver door‑to‑door awareness, counter misinformation and promote early care‑seeking.
• Support safe and dignified burial practices to break transmission chains.
• Collaborate with government authorities, partners and cross‑border teams to ensure coordinated response.

Required profile

• Relevant background in public health, epidemiology, or infection control.
• Experience working in humanitarian or emergency health contexts.
• Ability to operate in insecure and resource‑limited environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse communities.
