Safeguarding & PSEA Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Safeguarding & PSEA Officer to ensure that all project activities in Bunia are implemented in line with IRC safeguarding policies and core humanitarian principles. The role supports safe, dignified service delivery for vulnerable populations affected by conflict and health emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate safeguarding and PSEA considerations into project design, implementation, and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with IRC safeguarding policies, child protection standards, and anti‑exploitation guidelines.
• Provide training and capacity‑building for staff and partners on safeguarding, PSEA, and related reporting mechanisms.
• Monitor field activities, conduct risk assessments, and respond to safeguarding incidents.
• Coordinate with health, WASH, nutrition, and protection teams to embed safeguarding across sectors.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of safeguarding cases and outcomes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, child protection, or PSEA within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian standards, protection principles, and ethical conduct.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work in a conflict‑affected environment and adapt to evolving security situations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IRC safeguarding policies and international PSEA frameworks.
• Experience delivering training and capacity‑building sessions.
• Proficiency in incident reporting and case management tools.
