Site Manager – Kahuzi-Biega National Park

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations at the Kahuzi‑Biega National Park headquarters in Tshivanga, South‑Kivu, DRC. Reporting to the Park Director, the manager will ensure that all park functions operate cohesively to protect wildlife, support communities, and advance research and tourism.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate ranger deployment, wildlife protection activities, and anti‑poaching efforts.
• Serve as primary liaison with local communities, government agencies, and research partners.
• Oversee tourism development, fundraising initiatives, and reporting requirements.
• Manage communications, monitoring & evaluation, and capacity‑building programs for park staff.
• Support the Park Director in implementing the five‑year strategic plan and ensuring efficient, accountable operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing protected‑area operations or large‑scale conservation projects.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with strong coordination and leadership abilities.
• Willingness to reside permanently on‑site at the park headquarters.
• Ability to work under pressure in a remote, high‑risk environment.
