Social Worker

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Social Worker to support its integrated protection programme in the Ebola response across Ituri and North‑Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will focus on gender‑based violence (GBV) response, child protection, community risk mitigation and coordination with mobile health teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct protection assessments and case management for individuals affected by GBV, child protection concerns and Ebola‑related stigma.
• Provide psychosocial support and safe‑space referrals for survivors and vulnerable families.
• Coordinate with mobile health teams, RCCE staff and local authorities to integrate protection activities into health outreach.
• Document cases, produce regular reports and ensure confidentiality in line with humanitarian standards.
• Facilitate community engagement to reduce mistrust, mitigate risks and promote protective behaviours.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Humanitarian Affairs, Psychology or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in protection, GBV or child protection within humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Ability to work in remote, insecure environments and travel frequently within the provinces.
