About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking Finance Assistants to support its operations across multiple locations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The position is a fixed‑term contract (G5 level) lasting one year with the possibility of extension. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Finance Unit Head or the Finance Officer and will contribute to the efficient implementation of WFP’s financial and budgeting procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure proper implementation of financial and budgetary procedures in line with WFP standards.
• Interpret and apply standard financial guidelines to daily operations.
• Provide recommendations and guidance to colleagues at various levels on financial matters.
• Assign tasks to support staff and coordinate financial activities across country and field offices.
• Assist the Finance Officer in preparing reports, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining accurate records.

Required profile

• Experience in financial administration or budgeting within an international or humanitarian context.
• Ability to interpret and apply standard financial guidelines.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams across multiple locations.
