Chief of Party I – Sanitation Activity (DRC)

About the role

The Chief of Party I will lead a multi-year sanitation activity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, driving both supply and demand for sanitation services in rural and peri-urban areas. Reporting to the Deputy Country Representative for Programming, the role oversees program design, implementation and security management in partnership with USAID.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the sanitation program across multiple provinces.
• Develop and manage program work plans, budgets, and donor reporting in compliance with USAID requirements.
• Coordinate private-sector interventions to create market-based sanitation solutions.
• Ensure robust security risk assessments and mitigation measures for staff and operations.
• Monitor program performance, conduct evaluations, and adjust strategies to achieve impact targets.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, and private-sector actors.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing large-scale WASH or sanitation programs in fragile contexts.
• Proven track record with donor-funded projects, preferably USAID.
• Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
• Ability to work safely in insecure environments.
