Compliance Specialist – Risk Management & Internal Controls

About the role

VillageReach is seeking an experienced Compliance Specialist to strengthen risk management, internal controls and compliance practices at its Democratic Republic of Congo office. The role provides strategic and operational support to embed best‑practice risk management across all functions and ensure ethical conduct throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk management principles, tools and compliance frameworks.
• Provide strategic oversight of internal controls, due‑diligence processes and contract reviews.
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks, preventing non‑compliance and fraud.
• Lead gap analyses, control design reviews and validate effectiveness of existing policies.
• Oversee implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
• Advise on the creation and maintenance of compliance policies, including anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption measures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate risk considerations into strategic decisions and operational planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in compliance, risk management or internal audit, preferably in the non‑profit or health sector.
• Strong understanding of internal control systems, due‑diligence procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to conduct policy reviews, gap analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on integrity and accountability.
