Drill Rig Mechanic

About the role

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Drill Rig Mechanic ensures safe and efficient maintenance of underground drilling equipment, supporting continuous production at KCC's mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and planned interventions on drill rigs according to KCC standards and manufacturer requirements.
• Diagnose equipment failures using technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools, and carry out mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
• Conduct pre‑return‑to‑service checks, functional testing and verification of safety devices after repairs.
• Identify emerging failures such as leaks, abnormal wear, noise or vibration and contribute to root‑cause analysis of recurring issues.
• Document all interventions in SAP, including work orders, inspection reports and maintenance history.

Required profile

• State diploma in general or automotive mechanics.
• At least 5 years of experience maintaining underground mining or heavy industrial equipment, preferably Sandvik or Caterpillar.
• Strong safety culture, analytical mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge.
• Maintenance of underground drills and heavy equipment.
• Diagnosis, troubleshooting and failure analysis.
• Reading technical diagrams and using measuring/lifting tools.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Proficiency in SAP or a computerized maintenance management system.
