Field Emergency Coordinator – Humanitarian Operations

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Field Emergency Coordinator to lead and coordinate humanitarian operations in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Reporting directly to the Chief of Mission, the incumbent will ensure effective response to displacement and migration challenges on the ground.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate IOM’s emergency response activities and ensure alignment with overall mission strategy.
• Manage field teams, partners, and resources to deliver timely assistance to affected populations.
• Monitor and report on operational performance, risks, and outcomes.
• Facilitate communication between IOM headquarters, government authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee logistics, security, and compliance aspects of field operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Business, Public Administration or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience, OR a university degree with at least seven years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in humanitarian field coordination, emergency response, or migration management.
• Ability to work in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment and make decisions under pressure.
