Head of Social Performance & CSR

About the role

The Head of Social Performance & CSR will provide strategic direction for corporate social responsibility, community relations, rehabilitation, resettlement, livelihood restoration and stakeholder engagement across the mining and processing operations in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo. This expatriate fly‑in/fly‑out position reports to senior operational leadership and is essential for maintaining the company’s social licence to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the CSR and Social Performance strategy for DRC operations.
• Lead social risk assessments and design mitigation programmes.
• Oversee land acquisition, displacement, rehabilitation and resettlement programmes, including Resettlement Action Plans.
• Design and manage livelihood restoration and sustainable income‑generation initiatives.
• Negotiate, implement and monitor Cahier des Charges commitments.
• Ensure compliance with the DRC Mining Code and international standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with host communities, traditional leaders, local authorities and government stakeholders.
• Lead community consultation, stakeholder engagement and grievance management processes.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in social performance or CSR within the mining sector.
• Proven track record of managing complex social risks and community development projects in the DRC.
• Deep understanding of DRC regulatory framework, mining code and international best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills with government, NGOs and community representatives.
