Health Project Manager – Emergency Response

About the role

Medair is seeking an experienced Health Project Manager to lead emergency health interventions in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The role is field‑based in Bunia and focuses on rapid assessments, short‑term health responses, and strengthening primary health care services for conflict‑affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate health projects in line with objectives, timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate crisis assessments and fast‑track life‑saving health activities together with the WASH team.
• Oversee primary health‑care staff, ensuring delivery meets international quality standards.
• Facilitate beneficiary participation and liaise with local authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Prepare project proposals, progress reports and contribute to health strategy development.
• Supervise health activities, track outputs and impact, and ensure proper supply of PHC pharmaceuticals.
• Support minor rehabilitation of health facilities to maintain hygiene and safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing health projects in humanitarian or conflict settings.
• Strong understanding of primary health‑care delivery, emergency response and health systems strengthening.
• Ability to work in insecure, remote environments and adapt to rapidly changing contexts.
• Excellent leadership, coordination and reporting skills.
