Legal Director – Mining Operations (DRC)

About the role

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, is looking for an experienced Legal Director to lead the legal function in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This senior, commercially‑focused role will support a complex mining operation, providing strategic advice on transactions, contracts and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal support across commercial and operational activities.
• Lead all legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic corporate transactions.
• Structure, draft, review and negotiate large, complex commercial agreements.
• Support mining operations, procurement, construction, engineering, logistics and commercial activities.
• Advise on contract strategy, negotiations and risk allocation.
• Conduct legal due diligence for acquisitions and investments.
• Manage significant commercial disputes and oversee litigation.
• Instruct and manage external counsel in the DRC and internationally.
• Monitor legislative changes, especially OHADA law, and assess business impact.

Required profile

• Congolese nationality.
• Professional fluency in English and French.
• LLB or equivalent and admission to practice law in the DRC.
• Minimum 20 years post‑qualification legal experience.
• Extensive experience in mining, natural resources or extractive industries.
• Proven track record leading complex M&A transactions.
• Strong expertise in negotiating large‑scale commercial contracts.
