Project Coordinator – School Infrastructure & WASH (12 months)

About the role

The Project Coordinator will support UNICEF’s PAAF programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo, overseeing day‑to‑day coordination, monitoring and reporting of school construction and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of school building and WASH facilities according to approved designs and technical specifications.
• Monitor progress, ensure compliance with contractual requirements, environmental and social safeguards, and UNICEF standards.
• Prepare regular progress reports and updates for UNICEF and partners.
• Liaise with contractors, government authorities, and UNICEF staff to resolve issues and maintain timelines.
• Support procurement processes, contract management and quality assurance activities.
• Organise and conduct field missions and site visits to verify work quality and safety.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Hydraulics, Sanitary Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience managing large‑scale construction or WASH projects.
• Demonstrated experience in coordination, supervision and reporting of infrastructure programmes.
• Familiarity with UNICEF standards and environmental/social safeguard requirements.
• Willingness to work in Kinshasa and travel to field sites as needed.
