Santé Mentale et Soutien Psychosocial (MHPSS) Officer- OCC

About the role

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer will provide technical direction and coordination of child protection services within the Observation and Care Center (OCC). The role ensures that vulnerable, unaccompanied and at‑risk children receive rapid, integrated, child‑centered protection interventions in line with humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the delivery of high‑quality child protection services in the OCC, adhering to organizational policies, national systems and Minimum Standards for Child Protection.
• Provide technical support and supervision to case management supervisors and social workers to ensure quality case handling, family tracing, reunification and alternative care solutions.
• Coordinate daily operations with the OCC site supervisor and manager, addressing emerging protection concerns and referrals.
• Collaborate with Protection, Health, Nutrition, WASH, MEAL and Operations teams to deliver integrated multisectoral responses.
• Maintain coordination with government authorities, health structures, UNICEF, ICRC, local partners and community structures for effective case management, referrals, family tracing and prevention of family separation, especially in the context of Ebola response.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child protection, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Strong knowledge of national child protection systems, UNICEF and Save the Children policies, and Minimum Standards for Child Protection.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, manage case teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with government, UN agencies and local partners.
