About the role
The Senior Adviser will provide strategic leadership and oversight of UNICEF’s Social and Behavior Change (SBC) and Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Chief SBC and the Ebola Coordinator, the role will co‑lead coordination mechanisms at national and provincial levels and ensure technical coherence between UNICEF priorities and the incident management structure.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the SBC/RCCE response.
- Co‑coordinate RCCE mechanisms at national and provincial levels.
- Align UNICEF SBC priorities with the Ebola Incident Management/Coordination structure.
- Collaborate with SBC Section, Health Section, Emergency Team, field offices, government and UN partners.
- Support field‑oriented implementation, including regular deployment to affected provinces and health zones.
- Offer technical guidance, monitoring and evaluation of communication interventions.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in public health, social sciences, communication or a related field.
- 8‑10+ years of experience in risk communication, social and behavior change, or emergency health response.
- Proven leadership in multi‑partner coordination, preferably in humanitarian or epidemic contexts.
- Ability to work under pressure and be rapidly deployed.
- Fluency in English; French knowledge is an asset.
