Senior Engineer – Medium Term Planning

About the role

The Kibali Gold Mine team is looking for a Senior Engineer to lead medium‑term underground mine planning. You will develop, optimise and govern 3‑to‑24‑month plans that support safe, practical and value‑driven execution aligned with life‑of‑mine objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain rolling 3‑to‑24‑month underground mine plans, integrating geotechnical, ventilation, backfill, infrastructure and equipment constraints.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual production forecasts and conduct schedule optimisation, scenario analysis and risk assessments.
• Lead plan‑versus‑actual reconciliation across tonnes, grade, dilution, recovery, productivity and cost performance.
• Produce high‑quality mine layouts, schedules, technical reports, dashboards and management presentations.
• Partner with Underground Operations, Geology, Geotechnical, Survey, Ventilation, Maintenance, Finance and Technical Services to ensure integrated, achievable plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline; professional registration advantageous.
• 5‑8 years of underground mining experience, with significant medium‑term planning in a mechanised environment.
• Proven track record delivering plans that meet production, grade, productivity and cost targets.
• Strong ability to lead reconciliation, optimisation and forecasting processes.

Required skills

• Mine planning and scheduling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine, MineSched or MineSight.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; experience with Power BI is a plus.
