Chief of Party – DRC Sanitation Activity

About the role

The Chief of Party will lead the USAID‑funded DRC Rural and Peri‑Urban Sanitation Activity, overseeing all phases from start‑up to close‑out. Based in Goma, the role requires strategic oversight of a $25 million program that strengthens sanitation markets and builds local capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and technical direction for the sanitation activity across governance, demand creation, finance and supply‑side interventions.
• Ensure compliance with USAID financial, administrative and reporting requirements.
• Supervise and mentor project staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Manage risk, monitor budgets and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
• Engage with national stakeholders, including Ministry of Health officials, and serve as the primary donor liaison.
• Use evidence‑based approaches to refine project design and implementation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large‑scale international development projects, preferably in the health or sanitation sector.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑million‑dollar budgets and complex donor compliance frameworks.
• Strong leadership and team‑management skills with a track record of building local capacity.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
