Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Mining Operations

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide strategic and operational leadership for Kamoto Copper Company's mining activities, overseeing both underground and open‑pit operations to meet safe, efficient and cost‑effective production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and direct all mining operations across underground and open‑pit sites.
• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s life‑of‑asset plan.
• Ensure integration of mining, technical, processing, maintenance and support functions.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
• Identify and manage operational risks affecting safety, production, cost or continuity.
• Deliver agreed production, productivity, recovery and cost targets.
• Monitor performance through KPIs and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, capital projects and life‑of‑mine planning.

Required profile

• Experienced Mining Engineer with extensive operational experience.
• Proven leadership in large‑scale underground and open‑pit mining environments.
• Track record of achieving production and cost objectives.
• Ability to manage cross‑functional teams and drive integration.
• Commitment to safety, risk management and regulatory compliance.
