Security Risk Consultant – DRC

About the role

Conciliation Resources is seeking an experienced Security Risk Consultant to conduct a comprehensive security assessment for its operations and partner NGOs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The consultant will analyse threats, develop mitigation strategies, and support safe implementation of project activities across Ituri, North Kivu and Kinshasa.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a context analysis of Beni, Bunia, Aru and the routes linking them, including incident mapping and current risk analysis.
• Carry out a security stakeholder analysis and review existing external security mechanisms.
• Assess risks to project staff and consultants based on individual risk profiles.
• Develop and update Conciliation Resources’ security operating procedures and DRC Programme Security Plan.
• Design contingency plans covering hibernation, evacuation (routes, transport, supplies) and medical evacuation scenarios.
• Provide practical recommendations that align with the organization’s safety and security policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting security risk assessments in conflict‑affected environments.
• Familiarity with the security landscape of the DRC, especially Ituri and North Kivu provinces.
• Ability to work closely with NGOs, local partners and security authorities.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
