Senior Technical Officer – Santé Mentale et Soutien Psychosocial (RDC)

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer will lead mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Goma, the officer will coordinate community‑based prevention, psychosocial care, referral pathways and capacity‑building for local actors across several integrated projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor MHPSS activities in conflict‑affected areas of North‑Kivu and South‑Kivu.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams on community psychosocial support, psychological accompaniment and referral mechanisms.
• Strengthen the capacities of local partners, health facilities and protection actors through training and supervision.
• Ensure integration of MHPSS components with protection, economic inclusion and other sectoral interventions.
• Collect, analyse and report data on psychosocial outcomes and program performance.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in psychology, social work, public health or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in MHPSS programming within humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated experience working in conflict‑affected settings, preferably in the Great Lakes region.
• Strong understanding of protection, inclusion and community‑based approaches.
• Fluency in French and English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
