Superintendent – Medium-Term Planning

About the role

The Superintendent – Medium‑Term Planning will lead the development and optimisation of medium‑term mine plans for KCC’s underground and open‑pit operations in Kolwezi. Reporting to the Manager Underground Mine Planning & Studies, the incumbent translates strategic objectives into safe, realistic production schedules while coordinating with geology, geotechnics, ventilation and other technical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate health, safety and environmental requirements into all medium‑term plans and identify operational risks.
• Prepare, update and optimise medium‑term mine plans, defining mining sequences and production fronts aligned with corporate strategy.
• Convert long‑term strategic directions into executable activities, managing transitions with operational teams.
• Analyse sequencing options to maximise ore recovery, equipment utilisation and infrastructure use under terrain constraints.
• Coordinate development, ventilation, drainage, backfill and infrastructure requirements with specialist experts.
• Monitor plan performance, analyse variances, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of planners to ensure high‑quality output and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground and open‑pit mine planning, preferably in copper or cobalt operations.
• Strong understanding of geological, geotechnical, hydrological and ventilation constraints.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Leadership experience managing a team of planners.
