Underground Production Superintendent

About the role

The Underground Production Superintendent reports to the Underground Production Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all underground mining production activities at KCC's Kolwezi operation. The role ensures that safety, production, quality and cost objectives are achieved while maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and supervise day‑to‑day underground production to meet tonnage, ore quality and productivity targets.
• Implement and monitor the company’s HSE policies, identify hazards, track corrective actions and promote a zero‑incident culture.
• Monitor performance indicators, analyse gaps and drive improvement actions to optimise production efficiency and cost control.
• Develop, monitor and control operational budgets, preparing quarterly, monthly and annual forecasts.
• Coordinate with technical and support departments such as Mine Technical Services, Maintenance, Processing Plant and Supply to ensure effective planning.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical skills, autonomy and commitment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground mining production management.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards in mining.
• Ability to plan, organise and supervise large‑scale production operations.
• Experience in budget preparation and cost control.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with cross‑functional departments.
