Principal Social Development Officer

About the role

The African Development Bank is seeking a Principal Social Development Officer to lead its social sector initiatives in Kinshasa, DRC. The role will support the Bank’s Ten‑Year Strategy by driving projects that improve education, health, social protection and youth employment across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and strategies for social development aligned with the Bank’s “Improve Quality of Life” priority.
• Provide deep sector expertise on complex transactions covering education, health, social protection and nutrition.
• Design and promote new financing instruments for social projects.
• Represent the Bank with external stakeholders, acting as the spokesperson on social development matters.
• Build and manage a pipeline of projects, lending and portfolio activities for the central and northern regions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in social development, human capital or related sectors within multilateral development contexts.
• Proven ability to work across education, health, social protection and youth employment domains.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and representation skills.
