Project Manager (Implementation)

About the role

The Project Manager (Implementation) leads projects from initiation to closure, ensuring delivery within agreed tolerances of time, cost, scope, quality, risk and benefits. The role acts on behalf of the Project Board and coordinates with donors, partners and beneficiaries to meet contractual commitments and UNOPS performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, complete and update the project implementation plan and manage milestones.
• Embed sustainability, gender and environmental considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor progress, control variances, manage changes and initiate corrective actions.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring maximum benefits for partners and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with external suppliers, manage acceptance and delivery of work packages, and ensure quality compliance.
• Prepare and adapt plans for board approval, maintain project documentation and support audit activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years or Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in planning, implementing and controlling complex projects or programmes.
• Proven ability to manage project risks in multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Familiarity with UN or multicultural development contexts is desired.
