SAFER Consortium Director

About the role

The SAFER Consortium Director leads a multi‑partner humanitarian programme in Eastern DRC, coordinating the efforts of five international NGOs to deliver emergency assistance and essential WASH services to conflict‑affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the SAFER Consortium and represent the interests of all partner agencies.
• Oversee programme implementation, ensuring effective, efficient, and coordinated delivery of multi‑sectoral assistance.
• Supervise the Deputy Director responsible for operational coordination, programme harmonisation, and quality improvement.
• Manage an annual budget of over USD 30 million, tracking expenditures and financial reporting.
• Lead internal working groups and facilitate collaboration among partners to achieve programme outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements (BHA, FCDO, ECHO) and uphold safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior humanitarian programme management, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑partner consortia and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of WASH, cash‑and‑voucher assistance (CVA), and emergency response frameworks.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with donors and government authorities.
