Security Coordination Officer

About the role

The Security Coordination Officer will support the United Nations Department of Safety and Security in delivering security risk management for UN operations, with a focus on Ebola response activities in Beni. Reporting to the Area Security Adviser, the role contributes to safe and effective programme delivery in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inputs for forecasting the evolving security environment and UN Ebola response needs.
• Develop and support risk‑management strategies for Ebola response, using situational awareness and analytical techniques.
• Prepare, review and implement security planning and risk‑management documents.
• Produce written analyses of security trends, incident reports and briefings.
• Participate in meetings, committees and task forces, delivering papers and briefings on security issues.
• Advise on the integration of security considerations throughout all stages of UN Ebola response programmes.

Required profile

• Experience in security risk management and analytical assessment.
• Ability to work in complex, high‑risk environments.
• Familiarity with United Nations security frameworks and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and briefing.
