Senior IPC Manager - Ituri

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Senior Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Manager to lead IPC activities in Ituri province, DRC, amid the 17th Ebola virus disease outbreak. The role supports the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit (EPRU) in delivering life‑saving health interventions and reducing suffering during the acute phase of the emergency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor IPC strategies for Ebola response across health facilities in Ituri.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, partners and field teams to ensure compliance with national and WHO IPC standards.
• Provide technical guidance, training and supervision to local health workers on safe patient care, waste management and decontamination.
• Collect, analyse and report IPC data to inform program adjustments and donor reporting.
• Lead rapid assessments and outbreak investigations to identify IPC gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, nursing or a related health field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in IPC, preferably in humanitarian or outbreak settings.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams in remote or conflict‑affected areas.
• Fluency in French and English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IPC protocols, WHO guidelines and Ebola virus disease control measures.
• Proficiency in data collection tools and reporting systems used in health emergencies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
