Senior Site Engineer – Bridge Construction (Balanced Cantilever)

About the role

The Senior Site Engineer will lead the planning, coordination and execution of bridge construction projects using the balanced cantilever method and the Doka Cantilever Forming Traveler (CFT) system in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role requires overseeing all construction phases, ensuring safety, quality, cost control and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed work schedules and allocate resources for bridge projects.
• Manage construction of balanced cantilever bridge segments with the Doka CFT system or equivalent.
• Coordinate segment casting, prestressing, traveler launching and closure pours.
• Monitor progress, implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with specifications and method statements.
• Oversee installation, operation, relocation and dismantling of cantilever form travelers, ensuring alignment and dimensional accuracy.
• Control concrete quality, curing, prestressing operations and segment tolerances.
• Administer project budget, prepare cost reports and apply cost‑control measures.
• Handle contract administration, progress claims, variations and client/consultant correspondence.
• Manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers, including post‑tensioning experts.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and coordinate inspections and testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an advantage.
• Valid construction safety certification.
• Minimum 10 years of bridge construction experience, with at least 5 years in balanced cantilever projects.
• Hands‑on experience with Doka CFT or equivalent form‑traveler systems.
• Experience with post‑tensioned concrete and segmental bridge construction.
• Proven ability to manage large infrastructure projects.
• Fluency in English; working proficiency in French strongly preferred.
