Superintendent I – Safety

About the role

The Superintendent I, Safety will lead the enforcement of safety standards across mining and construction activities at the Kamoa Copper Mine. You will coordinate safety departments, audit compliance, and ensure that all contractors adhere to the highest safety expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and enforce safety procedures in mining and construction operations.
• Conduct on‑site inspections and visible‑leadership safety walks.
• Perform internal and external safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Lead incident investigations, prepare reports and drive root‑cause analysis.
• Monitor leading and lagging safety metrics and report performance.
• Implement and continuously improve the HSEQ plan for the business area.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or Mining with a focus on safety (SHE).
• Certificate in any SHE discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of mining safety experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proficiency in business English; additional French, Swahili or Mandarin is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of global SHEQ standards and ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001.
• Understanding of plant, mining and construction processes.
• Familiarity with Kamoa standards, procedures and relevant safety legislation.
• Experience with integrated risk management and safety performance data analysis.
• Computer literacy, presentation skills, root‑cause/fault‑tree analysis and incident investigation.
