Senior Superintendent II, Operational Risk Control

About the role

The Senior Superintendent II, Operational Risk Control will lead the shift from reactive to predictive risk management at the Kamoa Copper Mine, ensuring operational resilience and preventing high‑consequence events that could halt production or endanger lives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and embed an operational risk function with measurable early‑warning and crisis‑prevention capabilities.
• Influence senior leadership on risk matters, establish early‑warning signs, and drive operational assurance and critical controls.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including government, community, and security partners, to optimise the business value chain.
• Oversee budget forecasting, transformation support, HSEQ implementation and reporting governance for the risk area.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Mining, Mechanical or Civil preferred) and recognised risk‑management certification (e.g., CMIIA, CRMA).
• 15‑20 years mining experience, including at least 10 years operational background and 5‑8 years risk/assurance leadership.
• 8‑10 years experience in African mining environments with complex regulatory and infrastructure challenges.
• Proficiency in business English; French and Swahili are strong advantages.

Required skills

• Hands‑on mining expertise (mine manager, production manager or senior engineering roles).
• Underground or open‑pit operations, ground control and geotechnical engineering.
• Enterprise risk management systems and crisis‑management frameworks.
• Technical standards, mine planning and logistics.
