Emergency Specialist (P-3) – UNICEF Rapid Response, Goma

About the role

The Emergency Specialist (P‑3) will support UNICEF’s Rapid Response (UniRR) programme in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, under the supervision of the Emergency Manager (P‑4). The role involves planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating emergency interventions to protect children, mothers and affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the preparation and implementation of the UniRR programme.
• Develop, plan, monitor and evaluate emergency interventions in line with UniRR objectives.
• Provide policy and programme planning support to the Government of DRC.
• Oversee the activities of the internal UNICEF UniRR task‑force.
• Ensure delivery is cost‑efficient, coordinated and appropriate.
• Support global emergencies and emergency preparedness activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, International Law, Nutrition, WASH, Humanitarian Action or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, implementing and monitoring emergency programmes in developing countries.
• At least two years of experience at the international level in complex emergency situations, including one year of field experience.
• Proven experience in implementing rapid‑response programmes.
