Nutrition Officer – OCC

About the role

The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for assessing, providing daily nutritional care, and monitoring children admitted to the crèche linked to the Ebola Treatment Center (CTE). Working under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and with technical support from the Nutrition Program Manager, the officer will follow the national PRONANUT and PCIMA/PPCMA protocols and Save the Children standards to ensure that children separated from their mothers or orphaned due to Ebola receive age‑appropriate, nutritionally adequate feeding while adhering to strict infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and classify the nutritional status of each child upon admission.
• Provide daily nutritional support and monitor food intake according to national protocols.
• Coordinate closely with the CTE nutrition team, medical staff, child protection officers, and psychosocial workers to ensure integrated care.
• Maintain strict IPC practices to protect children and staff.
• Act as the focal point for nutrition in the crèche, ensuring continuity and quality of services.
• Supervise cooks (non‑managerial) and provide occasional support to kitchen staff.

Required profile

• Experience in child nutrition assessment and feeding in humanitarian or health emergency settings.
• Familiarity with the PRONANUT national nutrition protocol and PCIMA/PPCMA guidelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑sector teams (health, protection, WASH, case management).
• Understanding of Ebola‑related infection prevention and control measures.
• Capacity to report to the Site Supervisor and liaise with technical nutrition advisors.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PRONANUT national nutrition protocol.
• Knowledge of PCIMA/PPCMA guidelines.
• Proficiency in infection prevention and control (IPC) practices for Ebola contexts.
