Senior Officer, Technical Training (Mechanic)

About the role

Kamoa Copper SA is seeking two Senior Officers to lead technical training for mechanics at its large copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will design, deliver and oversee artisan‑focused training programmes that align with engineering SOPs and ensure safe, efficient use of mining equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement training programmes for artisan mechanics.
• Train newly recruited artisans and monitor on‑site practical training.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to direct reports.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across functional teams.
• Support cost‑reduction, transformation initiatives and zero‑harm HSEQ objectives.
• Maintain accurate reporting and governance for the training function.

Required profile

• Trade Tested Certificate as a Mechanic.
• Assessor Certification and Facilitation Qualification.
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification mechanic experience, with at least 3 years supervisory experience in a mining environment.
• At least 3 years experience as a trainer/facilitator.
• Business‑level English; French or Swahili is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Club BTP & CMA standards.
• Familiarity with Engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understanding of DRC labour legislation.
• Proficiency with MS Office, JDE, STGIsometrics and SAGE.
