Temple Facilities Assistant 2

About the role

The Temple Facilities Assistant 2 ensures that temple ordinances are recorded accurately and that the environment provides a positive, uplifting experience for members. This role supports the operation and maintenance of all physical facilities, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems under the direction of the Temple Facility Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service HVAC equipment and controls for optimal efficiency.
• Operate and test water‑treatment systems for boilers, culinary water, and cooling towers, monitoring pH, hardness, and conductivity.
• Repair laundry and kitchen equipment, including dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, and mixers.
• Maintain baptismal font filtration and water‑purification systems to meet local code requirements.
• Service high‑voltage three‑phase electrical wiring, motor control systems, and lighting circuits (110 V, 277 V, 24 V).
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems such as the computerized Temple Recording System, TV terminals, printers, cabling, and power supplies.
• Adjust and service projection, sound, and communication systems.
• Perform mechanical or electrical modifications as needed and assist with yearly facilities budgeting, time‑card submission, and FMAT project administration.

Required profile

• Completion of at least 2 years of technical training in a skilled trade.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the same trade plus 2 years in physical plant operations.
• Experience with electrical, electronics, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, general construction, blueprint reading, mechanics, and floor coverings.
• Shop organization and inventory‑management abilities.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, lift up to 50 lb, and hold any licenses required by law.
