Agriculture and Livelihoods Lead – USAID Resilience Project

About the role

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is seeking an Agriculture and Livelihoods Lead to oversee the design and implementation of a USAID/BHA‑funded Resilience Food Security Activity in the Kasai Region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role focuses on reducing chronic malnutrition through sustainable agricultural and livelihood interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and guidance for agriculture and livelihood components of the RFSA project.
• Lead large‑scale programs that improve food, nutrition, and economic security for vulnerable households.
• Develop and strengthen private‑sector linkages that create sustainable market opportunities.
• Address barriers in agricultural input and output markets, seed systems, and regulatory environments.
• Design and align climate‑smart agriculture practices with market demand.
• Implement on‑farm, off‑farm, and non‑farm livelihood interventions.
• Network with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and community groups.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in business, agriculture, agribusiness, agronomy or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive technical and managerial experience, preferably in USAID or other internationally‑funded projects.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale agriculture and livelihood programs.
• Expertise in agriculture combined with savings, capital management, and income‑generating activities.
• Experience creating effective private‑sector linkages and working within agricultural market systems.
• Demonstrated ability to design climate‑smart agriculture solutions.
• Experience implementing sustainable livelihood interventions (on‑farm, off‑farm, non‑farm).
• Preferred experience working in the DRC and familiarity with USAID/BHA funding mechanisms.
