Area Operations Manager DR Congo Sud Kivu

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is expanding its presence in South Kivu, DRC. The Area Operations Manager will lead day‑to‑day operational oversight for the new area office, ensuring programme delivery meets quality, compliance and cost‑effectiveness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise grant opening and closure meetings in coordination with the country office.
• Represent NRC externally at the local level and build professional networks.
• Contribute to assessments for new areas of operation and develop programme strategies.
• Adapt and implement SOPs and procedures to ensure effective assistance delivery.
• Oversee work and development plans for field staff and conduct regular performance feedback.
• Maintain NRC data collection systems and ensure proper storage and sharing of information.
• Coordinate periodic reporting to the Country Management Group, provide analysis and flag high‑risk issues.
• Perform any other delegated tasks relevant to the area office.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in a senior project or team‑management role, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
