Area Operations Manager – South Kivu, DRC

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is expanding its presence in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The Area Operations Manager will lead day‑to‑day operational oversight, ensuring programme delivery meets quality, compliance and cost‑effectiveness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise grant opening and closure meetings in coordination with the country office.
• Represent NRC externally at the local level and build professional networks.
• Contribute to assessments for new areas, outline interventions and develop programme strategies.
• Adapt and implement SOPs and procedures to ensure effective assistance delivery.
• Oversee work and development plans, conduct regular performance feedback sessions.
• Maintain data collection systems, ensure proper storage and sharing of information.
• Coordinate periodic reporting to the Country Management Group and provide risk analysis.
• Perform any other delegated tasks related to the area office.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in a senior project and team management role, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context.
• Bachelor’s degree in political sciences, social studies, business administration or a related field.
• Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
