Associate Engineer – Goma, DRC (UN Mission)

About the role

The Associate Engineer will work within the Engineering Section of MONUSCO, based in Goma. Reporting to the Chief of the Projects & Operations Unit, the role supports the design, construction, and maintenance of a wide range of infrastructure needed for the mission.

Key responsibilities

• Apply engineering calculations and standards to design and repair buildings, roads, bridges, airfields, helipads, waste disposal, flood control, water treatment, power generation and distribution, and environmental control systems.
• Conduct preliminary site investigations, gather soil and drainage data, and prepare design layouts for smaller or less complex structures.
• Produce architectural and engineering drawings using AutoCAD and perform site inspections when required.
• Generate cost data, estimates, and support budget projections and acquisition planning for current and planned field missions.
• Prepare technical specifications for procurement, manage engineering assets, and conduct Environmental Impact Assessments.
• Evaluate technical proposals from bidders, liaise with local contractors and suppliers, and provide recommendations to improve unit workflows.

Required profile

• Professional engineering knowledge and expertise applicable to field and military engineering projects.
• Ability to conduct site investigations, produce technical drawings, and develop cost estimates.
• Experience in preparing technical specifications, procurement documents, and environmental assessments.
