Chief of Communication (P-5) – Fixed Term, 24 months

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Chief of Communication (P-5) for a fixed‑term 24‑month appointment in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The position supports UNICEF’s mission to protect children’s rights and improve their wellbeing across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate UNICEF’s communication strategy and activities in the DRC.
• Oversee media relations, advocacy campaigns and the production of communication materials.
• Collaborate with programme teams to ensure messaging aligns with UNICEF’s goals and the country context.
• Represent UNICEF in external forums and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in communication, preferably within an international or humanitarian organization.
• Proven leadership and management skills in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Ability to work effectively in challenging contexts and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
