Chief of Party – DRC Rural & Peri‑Urban Sanitation Activity

About the role

PSI is seeking a Chief of Party (COP) to lead the $25 million USAID‑funded DRC Rural and Peri‑Urban Sanitation Activity. Based in Goma, the COP will oversee the full project lifecycle, from start‑up through close‑out, ensuring high‑impact interventions that strengthen sanitation markets and build local capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the sanitation activity.
• Ensure technical implementation, financial compliance, and administrative oversight meet donor and PSI standards.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team, monitor budgets, and mitigate project risks.
• Engage with national stakeholders, including Ministry of Health officials, and serve as the primary point of contact for USAID.
• Use evidence‑based approaches to refine project design and improve outcomes.
• Oversee transition of implementation responsibilities to local entities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing large‑scale, USAID‑funded health or sanitation projects in low‑resource settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑country teams and deliver results within budget and schedule.
• Strong understanding of sanitation market development, sector governance, demand creation, finance, and supply‑side strengthening.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to represent the project with donors and government partners.
