Chief of Party – Multi‑Sector Emergency Program

About the role

The Chief of Party (CoP) will lead the multi‑sectoral emergency award funded by the United States Department of State in Bunia, DRC. Reporting to senior leadership, the CoP ensures program goals are met, staff are supported, and donor requirements are fulfilled.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the USDOS‑funded program, ensuring timelines, standard operating procedures, and objectives are achieved.
• Provide leadership, supervision, training, and performance appraisals for program staff, fostering a positive team culture.
• Manage and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of staff.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, international standards, Samaritan's Purse policies, and USG regulations.
• Develop and monitor grant budgets, review financial reports, and control spending within approved limits.
• Lead proposal development, prepare performance reports, and deliver regular donor updates.
• Establish reporting, evaluation, and communication systems in partnership with the M&E Manager.
• Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian partners, and Samaritan's Purse stakeholders.
• Conduct regular field visits to support staff, address challenges, and explore future program opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics or a related field; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum six years of international work experience, including field‑level management, preferably in East Africa.
• Experience managing United States Government funding or multi‑million‑dollar grants.
• Strong biblical studies background (12 credit hours) is highly preferred.
