Child Protection and Sexual and GBV Technical Advisor

About the role

The Child Protection and Sexual and GBV Technical Advisor will lead Save the Children’s national strategy and technical quality for the child protection portfolio across the Democratic Republic of Congo. This senior position oversees both humanitarian and development programmes, ensuring protection and child wellbeing are central to all interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor high‑quality child protection programmes in emergency and long‑term contexts.
• Lead national advocacy, influencing policy and mobilising resources from diverse donors.
• Build and manage strategic partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to a distributed team across multiple provinces, including remote management.
• Represent Save the Children externally on issues of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in social work, law, protection or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years senior‑level experience in child protection and/or SGBV for international NGOs, UN agencies or government.
• Deep knowledge of the DRC child protection sector, including alternative care, family tracing, reintegration and SGBV response.
• Proven ability to develop national‑level strategies and adapt them provincially.
• Fluency in French; proficiency in a national language (Swahili, Lingala, Tshiluba or Kikongo) is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to travel nationwide, including remote and insecure locations, on short notice.
