Commodity Supervisor – Strategic Sourcing

About the role

The Commodity Supervisor will lead strategic sourcing initiatives for an assigned commodity within UPS, ensuring the procurement of high‑quality products and services at the best possible cost. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive cost‑saving opportunities and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and review competitive bid quotations, conduct reverse auctions, and negotiate with suppliers.
• Analyze Total Cost of Ownership to identify the most advantageous purchasing methods.
• Develop and monitor supplier performance measures and incentive plans.
• Draft, modify, and finalize contracts in line with UPS standards and commercial requirements.
• Prepare contract summaries, risk analyses, and position papers for management approval.
• Lead site visits, pre‑bid meetings, and post‑contract follow‑up activities.
• Supervise junior team members within the procurement department.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess total cost of ownership.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
• Leadership experience supervising staff.
