Community Engagement Manager

About the role

Medair is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to lead and coordinate community engagement activities across its health, nutrition, and WASH projects in eastern Congo. Based in Goma, you will work directly with field teams, local authorities, and partner NGOs to ensure consistent, high‑quality implementation of behavior‑change communication and participatory approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the Community Engagement Team, managing focal points and base teams.
• Represent Medair at BCC meetings, workgroups, and with local authorities and partners.
• Supervise the rollout of community engagement strategies, including behavior‑change communication, accountability, and participatory activities.
• Ensure uniform implementation of activities across all bases and sectors.
• Identify target behaviours through barrier analysis, focus groups, and other qualitative methods.
• Oversee household mapping and the selection of lead mothers or community health workers.
• Collaborate with sector project managers and technical advisors to align messages with health, nutrition, and WASH logframes.
• Liaise with technical staff to understand and teach specific health‑related behaviours.
• Support field teams in resolving community issues and maintaining strong community relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating community engagement or outreach activities in humanitarian or health settings.
• Familiarity with behavior‑change communication, participatory methods, and community‑based monitoring.
• Ability to work closely with field teams, volunteers, and local leaders.
• Strong organizational skills and capacity to ensure consistency across multiple sites.
