Control Manager

About the role

The Control Manager will lead the financial close process, ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain robust accounting procedures. This role supports strategic decision‑making by delivering timely and reliable financial statements in compliance with Nigerian and International Accounting Standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the month‑end and year‑end close processes, preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain and update the company’s accounting policies, ensuring alignment with Nigerian legal requirements and IFRS.
• Directly post and reconcile transactions in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, guaranteeing accurate recording.
• Manage credit control policies, reconcile customer and supplier accounts, and monitor cash‑in‑transit balances across locations.
• Prepare statutory books and schedules for external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Conduct monthly risk assessments of balance‑sheet and P&L accounts in partnership with the Finance Director.
• Lead, motivate and identify training needs for the accounting team.

Required profile

• HND or B.Sc. in Accounting.
• Professional qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a structured organization, including at least 3 years in a managerial accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
• Computer literacy and advanced Excel skills.
