Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

The Country Director serves as the official representative and leader of Women for Women International in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This senior position shapes the vision and strategy for the country office, overseeing program implementation, operations, and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level oversight of all programmatic and operational activities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
• Lead a professional country team delivering a 12‑month holistic gender‑focused graduation program and related initiatives.
• Represent WfWI to donors, partners, government agencies, and civil‑society stakeholders, cultivating new partnerships and funding opportunities.
• Develop and manage annual work plans, budgets, and operational plans to achieve the 2025 strategy and beyond.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational standards, and financial, administrative, and logistical controls.
• Drive fundraising efforts, maintain a robust pipeline, and secure resources to scale impact.

Required profile

• Proven ability to build capacity, mentor staff, and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commitment to women’s empowerment and experience delivering gender‑transformative development programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the capacity to operate in unstable and challenging environments.
• Demonstrated experience in external relations, partnership development, and fundraising.
